Confluence Consulting to be featured....

While I'm in Bozeman at the end of August, Jim Lovell, principal and owner of Confluence Consulting Inc. is going to explain the science and engineering behind trout stream habitat enhancement and restoration.

From the Confluence website:
Jim Lovell is a stream restoration specialist with 20 years experience in the research and recovery of aquatic systems. Jim is known nationally for his expertise in stream restoration and the use of natural channel design and bioengineering methods to stabilize rivers and streams. This work has included the biological and geomorphic assessments of stream channels; design, permitting, and construction of fish habitat; restoration for threatened and endangered species; and relocation of streams and rivers. In addition, Jim has designed and constructed miles of bioengineered bank stabilization treatments to protect hazardous waste landfills, earth dams, and infrastructure; and to control sediment sources for water quality improvement.

Thanks to Jim for agreeing to take time away from his business to appear in SPRING CREEK: Randchers, Anglers, Water and Trout. If anyone can help explain the intracacies surrounding spring creeks, I think Jim can. I've tried to get a local perspective here in British Columbia about spring creeks, but no one I have approached seems to know much about them. Perhaps because our geomorphology here in BC doesn't lend itself to having large (or small) spring fed creek systems.

New Filming Dates..........

Production shooting on SPRING CREEK: Ranchers, Anglers, Water and Trout will resume starting August 30th for two weeks. I'll be heading back to the Bozeman area for some pick up shots and a few more key interviews.

Greg Fay,  photo courtesy www.fayranches.com

Greg Fay of Fay Ranches has agreed to participate in the film. Greg was one of the first brokers in Montana to start specializing in brokering "sporting ranches". In fact when he started back in 1986 he initially created Fay Fly Fishing Properties. Like to see what one of these phenomenal ranch opportunities looks like? Take a look at http://www.fayranches.com/ they have a terrific mulitmedia website. The four pillars of Fay Ranches' mission statement are Sporting Pursuits, Family, Conservation and Ranch Value. Fay Ranches believe's that "through the use of conservation easements and thoughtful land stewardship, they can guide ranch owners toward a legacy of conserving wide open spaces, enhancing and creating fisheries and wildlife habitat and implementing sustainable agricultural operations". Greg's business has expand significantly over the years and he now brokers ranches all over the west, as well providing Ranch Management. He also tells me that they also do stream restoration work and have rehabilitated several spring creeks. When I first called Greg to ask if he would mind being interviewed for the film he told me he had just finished fishing a spring creek that morning. It's because of that passion for spring creeks that we're looking forward to sitting down with him and getting his perspective on the magic that surrounds Montana's spring creek fishing.
