Bio

Travis Lowe’s career in television production began like most at the local cable studio. At the age of twelve, Travis operated studio camera for his Dad’s Friday night, community cable music show which at that time consisted of pointing the camera at album covers. Through his father’s job as an audio visual technician, Travis had unlimited access to a VHS camera growing up.... but more importantly, a post production VHS edit suite. It was here where he learned the creative outlet that film and television was to provide him throughout his life. It was these formative experiences that lead him to pursue a post secondary education in Television production. After receiving a degree in Radio and Television Production, he worked in the burgeoning “Corporate Video” market in Toronto as a camera op and editor. Artistically unsatisfied with “corporate video” a move west landed Travis at CHBC Television, where for the last 15 years he has been employed as a ENG News Camera/Editor. “Working in a television news environment allows me to craft a short documentary every day, sometimes two” says Lowe. Due to the economic shift in the Canadian “Television Model” in the last few years Travis has made the move to the other side of the lens working as a Videographer. In 2008 Travis became part of the Digital Filmmaking faculty at the Centre for Arts and Technology, teaching cinematography. Together with his partner, AM1150’s Jessica Samuels, who holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism from BCIT, they operate Cinema Digital ,a private production company that focuses on documentary production.

Travis has managed to combine his passion for fly fishing with his work in the film and televsion industry. He has produced, shot and edited an 8 part news series for CHBC in conjuction with Scientific Anglers called "The World of Fly Fishing" as well as guest hosting two episodes of "Sportfishing on The Fly" a Canadian fly fishing show that airs on the WFN. His latest endeavour, the RM Angler Fly Fishing FIm Festival has acted as a catalyst for a group of anglers and conservationists to form a chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada in his home of Kelowna, British Columbia.
